On behalf of Local and International faculty, I would like to warmly welcome you to the 29th Annual Asian Course in Temporal Bone and Ear Surgery and 2nd Rajavithi Endoscopic Ear Surgery Course.
The course was established in Bangkok, Thailand, in 1996 by Dr. Soonthorn Antarasena, the first Head of the Department of Otolaryngology and former Director of Rajavithi Hospital, together with Prof. Jan E. Veldman, the international coordinator from Utrecht, The Netherlands. Along with a distinguished core faculty from Europe, the United States, and Australia, they initiated the Asian Temporal bone course, covering both basic and advanced otologic surgery.
The course is organized the collaboration of the local faculty from the Center of Excellence in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Rajavithi Hospital, senior members of the Royal College of Otolaryngologists of Thailand and the Rural Ear, Nose and Throat Foundation of Thailand.
Today, a broad range of clinical otologic topics are taught, discussed and demonstrated through lectures, temporal bone dissections and three-dimensional televised live surgery. These activities are designed to help young otolaryngologists gain a deeper understading of otologic disease and develop practical skills applicable to their daily clinical practice.
Following the successful introduction of endoscopic ear dissection sessions last year, which received an overwhelmingly positive response from participants, we are pleased to continue this component of the course. In addition, we will demonstrate some endoscopic ear surgical procedures, reflecting the growing role of endoscopic techniques in contemporary otologic practice.
The lectures and temporal bone dissections will take place at the Surgical Skill Training Center, Rajavithi Hospital.
We warmly invite young Asian ENT surgeons and senior colleagues to join us for this educational experience, and we hope that the knowledge and skills gained from this course will contribute to the advancement of ear surgery and hearing care throughout the region.
